Meet our Minis
We refer to beautiful Leo as our ‘Zen Master’. Leo is a gorgeous brown and white appaloosa. He came from a Mississippi kill pen where he had been kept in a pig crate. Due to this Leo, has a condition known as locking stifle. This condition affects the stifle joint which includes the kneecap and ligaments and is the most complex joint in the horse. Leo’s hind legs ‘lock up’ every now and then. With supplements and exercise, Leo is doing well and has walked in several parades including the ten miles of the 2018 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. Leo is a favorite with both adults and children! He loves hugs and truly has a gift of connecting with the energy of humans. He is our alpha mini!

Hi, I'm Leopold!
I'm a six year old gelding.
Ronan is an exquisite bay gelding and he is our smallest mini. Ronan was born to a mare rescued from a Mississippi kill pen and was actually born at the Sanctuary. Ronan is a gentle soul who overcame early susceptibility to nasal infections to become a strong, healthy gelding! Ronan has walked in several parades and participated in the 2018 Equest Fest with Leo, Twinkle Toes, and Britainy. Ronan loves school visits and meeting children and adults alike. Ronan is a small but mighty member of our therapy team!

I'm a three year old gelding.
Twinkle Toes is our crowd favorite! She is our mascot due to her charming personality! Twinkle Toes has a condition known as ‘monkey mouth’. Twinkle Toes has a severe under bite that causes her lower teeth to protrude. Due to this condition we keep close tabs on her teeth and like with all of the minis, have their teeth floated (filed) yearly. Twinkle Toes has a constant smile and has been known to climb into our laps! Twinkle Toes has walked in many parades (she thinks everyone is there to see her!) and participated in the 2018 Equest Fest at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center hosted by equestrian Carson Kressley. Twinkle Toes is still in training for use in our therapy program. She has beautiful white hair when she is not rolling which is her favorite pastime!

Hi, I'm Twinkle Toes!
I'm a four year old
mini mule mare.
Britainy (Brit) is a gorgeous buckskin mare with one blue eye. Brit was rescued from Sacramento California where the story has it her mother was killed by a rattlesnake. The people caring for her were feeding her grain and when So Cal Mini Sanctuary reached Brit, she was very sick and still had the umbilical cord attached to her. Brit was nursed back to health and is now thriving and participating in parades and therapy sessions. Brit and Leo were featured on Channel 5 during ‘Live on Green’ a pre-Rose Parade celebration in Pasadena California. Brit and Ronan are fast friends and have been raised with humans from early ages. This makes for an excellent therapy mini!

Hi, I'm Britainy!
I'm a three year old mare.
Our handsome, blue-eyed Duke of York came from the same Mississippi kill pen as Leopold. He is our tallest mini and is a stunning black and white pinto. Duke and Leo are playmates and start each day off with a chase and sparring session. Duke also has a calm demeanor and does well with both children and adults. Duke is a chill ‘tall drink of water’ and does especially well with children who are differently abled. Duke makes sure the morning and afternoon buckets are picked up and helps with this task!
